New Black Diamond rainbow paint

Posted by JFunk on 16/11/2009 in Pro DJ Headphones, Technologys |

Just got a new paint effect delivered. The paint finish takes quite a long time to produce as there is 11 layers in total but they look good. The paint changes all the colours of the rainbow as the angle of the light changes. This paint is going to be available on all our headphones for an aditional £5 GBP.

New Toy…. Plotter Cutter

Posted by JFunk on 12/11/2009 in General |

My new toy has arrived. A nice new plotter cutter to cut my stencils for me. It has laser guided contour cut to cut tshirt transfers as well. So now I can make more detailed stencils much easier and am one step closer to having a range of clobber to go with the headphones as well.

Glowing headphones

Posted by JFunk on 07/11/2009 in Technologys |

It is well documented that if you want to impress a raver you need to be adorned in bright colours. But to get the edge and really stand out you need to glow in the dark. We have a special coating which can be applied to the headphones to make them glow in the dark. The coating is slightly grainy so it will make the paint work feel slightly rough but it is worth it.
Sorry for the shaky camera work…. I really need to invest in a tripod but you get the idea

Cable Wrapping

Posted by JFunk on 07/11/2009 in Technologys |

One of our most popular mods is having your cable wrapped. We us UV reactive wrapping to make the cord as good looking as the rest of the headphones. We can cable wrap most cables but on curly cables it is better not to wrap the curly bit as ti stops it from springing back properly. For curly cables we normally just wrap the top part above to curly bit. It does really complete the whole look, We currently have orange, blue, green and purple available

Duying Earpads

Posted by JFunk on 07/11/2009 in Technologys |

We now have the technology to re-dye the earpads of our DJ Headphones. Rather than painting them we use a special dye that sinks into the surface of the earpads and colour them from within. This means that they the colour will not crack or peal. This dye can also be applied to the cable instead of wrapping them. If you have any questions just email jfunk@jfunk.org

Custom Mono Switch

Posted by JFunk on 07/11/2009 in Technologys |

Many DJs spend a lot of the time monitoring with one ear but most tracks are in stereo. Because of this it is handy to be able to switch the headphones to mono so you get the full sound from the one ear you are using. Some high end headphones like the pioneer hdj-1000 have a mono switch already for this purpose. Unfortunately this feature is still quite rear but… We can uprate most headphones with a mono switch for a small fee. This also gives you the option of choosing what kind of switch you have. It could be something subtle or an oversized brightly coloured one. If you have any questions just emal jfunk@jfunk.org

Upratign the Jack Connector

Posted by JFunk on 07/11/2009 in Technologys |

Even though all mixers have a 1/4″ headphone connector nearly all DJ headphones have a 3.5mm jack with a 1/4″ adaptor. Here at custom cans we like to give the option uprating the 3.5mm jack to a proper 1/4″ jack. This gives not only better sound as there are fewer connections but also means you will never turn up at a gig and realise you have lost the adaptor. I am sure you must have done that once….. You get there, unpack and then realise you have lost the 1/4″ adaptor… Nightmare.

Here is a picture of some HD25-1 which have had a full size jack fitted. These are trickier that most headphones as they use a steel cable instead of copper for strength.

Bad Data Pioneer HDJ-1000

Posted by JFunk on 03/11/2009 in Pro DJ Headphones |

Here is the newly finished Bad Data Pioneer HDJ-1000. They were tough to do as the HDJ-1000 come into about 1000 pieces. Also I had to use a special matt clearcoat which is no where near as tough as the polly coat I normally use so I had to apply about 15 layers until I was sure they were tough enough to stand up to DJing. But despite the trouble they turned out nice in the end.
